About Claudia

Personal Overview and  Academic Training

Dr. Claudia Núñez, PsyD, MSW, is a bilingual and bicultural licensed clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience spanning hospital systems, academic research institutions, community mental health settings, and private practice. Her work blends a strong foundation in psychological theory, research and applied clinical training with holistic, integrative approaches that honor the mind, body, and spirit. Guided by cultural humility and a trauma-informed lens, Dr. Núñez creates space for healing that is both evidence-based and deeply attuned to each individual’s unique context, strengths, and story.

Dr. Claudia Núñez earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) with a concentration in Multicultural Community Clinical Psychology. A Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Southern California (USC), specializing in Adult Mental Health and Wellness. And Bachelor’s in Sociology from Mount St. Mary’s University, where she focused on social stratification, inequality, and collective resilience.

Research and Clinical  Program Development

Dr. Nunez further solidify her academic research training UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, where she served as Predoctoral Research Associate and later as a Staff Research and bilingual clinician within the Integrated Substance Abuse Programs (ISAP). There, she contributed to NIH-funded studies developing trauma-informed interventions for underserved populations. Her dual role involved clinical delivery and protocol development—ensuring both fidelity to research standards and cultural relevance in implementation.

Her research work extended to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with the pediatric medical trauma unit. Where she examined expressive arts and mindfulness-based interventions effects in reducing preoperative anxiety in children and emotional distress in caregivers. These efforts explored the intersections of integrative care, emotional regulation, and recovery within hospital environments.

In parallel with her institutional work, Dr. Núñez designed and led community-based, somatic healing programs for women of color navigating structural and interpersonal trauma—including those living in transitional housing or recovering from complex trauma. Her initiatives (Yoga as Healing, Healing with Beat and Breath, and Oak Roots: Sprouting to Connect) centered collective care, body-based healing, and cultural restoration.

Who I Work With

Dr. Núñez works primarily with adults navigating life transitions, grief, identity shifts, and relational or cultural disconnection. Her clients often come to therapy during periods of rupture, questioning, or reinvention often seeking not just relief, but reconnection. Many identify as caregivers, creatives, professionals, or seekers who long to live with greater alignment, self-trust, and embodied clarity.

Therapeutic Approach and  Values

Dr. Núñez draws from dynamic, relational, and somatic frameworks within a trauma-informed, culturally grounded lens. Her work is collaborative, non-pathologizing, and rooted in the belief that healing is not about fixing what is broken but about remembering what is whole.

Her approach weaves together psychodynamic and relational insight, somatic awareness, and culturally grounded frameworks. Sessions may include:
– Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support parts integration
– Narrative re-authoring and bibliotherapy for identity work
– Trauma-informed mindfulness and expressive arts
– Breath-work and EFT to regulate the nervous system

All modalities are used collaboratively and with consent, tailored to the pace, goals, and values of each individual. Clients are met with warmth, clinical precision, and a deep respect for their unique histories, wisdom, and rhythms. Dr. Núñez approaches therapy as both a personal journey and a liberatory act, a space where inner healing and collective restoration are held in compassionate dialogue.

A healthier choice for a healthier you.
